Show Me Perth

Leading West Australian jeweller Solid Gold Diamonds has celebrated its 30th anniversary by opening the largest showroom and design studio in Australia at new premises in the Hay Street Mall, Perth.

No dollars were spared in the $3milllion refurbishment of the prime retail space at Level 1, 726 Hay Street Mall, which covers an area of 1150 sqm and houses 56 staff.

Since opening, Solid Gold Diamonds has sold over 130,000 pieces of diamond jewellery and continue to specialise in engagement rings with prices starting from $2,500. The largest diamond sold to date was 11 carats with a value of $1.2 million.

Founder Peter Greene is a master jeweller from London who was trained in the famed Hatton Gardens before arriving in Perth with six dollars to his name in 1971 and a dream to open his own workshop.

Greene first started his own company, Ringcraft, in the basement of a building in Barrack Street in 1971 [sic]. Fast forward 30 years and Solid Gold Diamonds remains 100% privately owned by Mr Greene and is the largest buyer and seller of pink and white diamonds in WA, due to an unrivalled relationship with Argyle Diamonds and an exclusive partnership in Antwerp with one of the world’s most exclusive diamond suppliers.

The Solid Gold Diamonds group is one of only twelve authorised partners worldwide of Argyle Pink Diamonds, the world’s primary source of rare pink diamonds.
