The Argyle Diamond Mine, located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, is one of the world’s most extraordinary diamond discoveries. Since its discovery in 1979, the mine produced over 90% of the world’s pink diamonds, along with a remarkable spectrum of colours including red, purple, blue, yellow, champagne, and rare white diamonds.
Following the closure of the Argyle mine in November 2020, no new Argyle pink diamonds will ever be recovered. Today, these diamonds exist only through Select Ateliers, with demand increasing and availability permanently finite.

Unlike most fancy coloured diamonds, the natural colour of Argyle pink diamonds is not caused by trace elements. Instead, scientists believe the colour results from a rare dislocation in the crystal lattice, formed deep within the earth.
This structural phenomenon alters the way light is absorbed and reflected, creating the soft blush to vivid pink tones unique to Argyle diamonds — inspiring the phrase that these diamonds “blush when you look at them.”
Greater colour intensity equates to greater rarity and value.
