Diavik Diamonds
A Legacy of provenance, purity & sustainability
Diavik Diamonds are exceptional natural diamonds sourced from one of the world’s most remarkable and responsibly operated diamond mines. Produced by Rio Tinto, these diamonds are valued not only for their beauty and rarity, but for their verified origin and commitment to sustainable excellence.

Diavik Diamonds
Canada’s arctic treasure
Formed billions of years ago beneath Lac de Gras in Canada’s remote Northwest Territories, the Diavik Diamond Mine is one of the most extraordinary diamond sources in the world.
Constructed beneath frozen tundra and Arctic lakes, the Diavik mine stands as a landmark achievement in modern mining. Operated by Rio Tinto, it is renowned for producing diamonds of exceptional purity, brilliance, and ethical origin.
Provenance You Can Trust
Every Diavik diamond is prized for:
- Naturally high colour and clarit
- Transparent and documented origin
- Certified tracking through the Mine of Origin program
- Responsible manufacturing and ethical sourcing
This assurance provides confidence for international collectors and jewellery connoisseurs seeking authenticity, sustainability, and long‑term value.
Mine of Origin Program
Certified provenance
The Mine of Origin program, developed by Rio Tinto, guarantees both the geographic origin of each diamond and the integrity of the mine where it was recovered.
Through this programme, Diavik diamonds are traced, segregated, and certified, providing full transparency from mine to finished jewel. Each stone carries a documented story of origin, authenticity, and responsible stewardship.

Sustainability leadership in extreme environments
The Diavik Diamond Mine is a leader in sustainable mining, using renewable energy in extreme Arctic conditions. Its wind turbines (since 2012) have cut 135,000 tonnes of CO₂, while a 2024 off-grid solar plant with 6,600 panels boosts clean energy use.
Advanced bifacial solar technology improves efficiency in snow-covered environments. Together, these systems are expected to supply 25% of site energy by 2026, reducing diesel reliance and supporting low-carbon mining operations.
Community & Indigenous Partnerships
Sustainability at Diavik extends beyond the environment. Approximately 30% of the workforce involved in constructing the solar facility came from the local Tłı̨chǫ Nation, reflecting meaningful collaboration, respect for traditional lands, and long‑term community investment.
